Celebrity Cruises Eastern Caribbean Cruise itineraryThe most refined ship at sea will make its debut in Fort Lauderdale in December. The sophisticated Celebrity Edge will set a new standard for modern luxury in cruising. The first new class of ship to be introduced in the Celebrity Cruises fleet in 10 years, Edge features the work of a global dream team of architects and designers. The ship’s innovative Magic Carpet climbing deck changes location and function throughout the day. At its lowest level on Deck 2, the Magic Carpet is a luxury embarkation station. Alongside Deck 14, it’s an open-air expansion of the main pool area. Down on Deck 5, it adds al fresco seating to one of the ship’s specialty restaurants. In the evening, it rises to Deck 16 and becomes the ultimate specialty restaurant offering “Dinner on the Edge” for 90 guests. Re-imagined accommodations feature larger living areas, bigger bathrooms and a king-size bed in 99% of Edge’s staterooms, an industry first for premium cruise lines.

Sail from Fort Lauderdale to these popular Eastern Caribbean ports:

San Juan, Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico’s capital is one of the busiest ports in the Caribbean. The Old San Juan district, the second-oldest European settlement in the New World, is where you’ll find restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and historic buildings. Don’t miss Castillo San Felipe del Morro, the most dramatic of all the city’s military fortresses and a beautiful greenspace by the sea. Not far away is Castillo San Cristόbal, the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World. Nature lovers can travel to El Yunque, home to numerous waterfalls, ferns and wildflowers. Or you might find a tour and tasting at the Bacardi Rum Factory more to your liking.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands: There’s no lack of adventure at Tortola, which boasts some of the best white-sand beaches in the British Virgin Islands. Visit the yacht-filled harbor at Road Town, which is lined with cheerfully painted restaurants and quaint island-style shops. Rent a boat and head to Norman Isle, a real-life deserted island and former pirate lair, or sample a West Indian specialty like conch or turtle.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten: Tropical tranquility and decadent dining are in big supply on the unique Caribbean island of St. Maarten. One side of the island is delightfully Dutch, while the other is fantastically French. Play a round of golf, go scuba diving on a colorful coral reef or relax away the day on a sandy beach. And when it’s time to eat, you’ll soon find out why the island is known as the “Gastronomic Capital of the Caribbean.”
