Monograms Galapagos Islands Tour itineraryAn amazing experience is waiting for you! Ecuador is a country that takes protecting and respecting nature very seriously. On this Monograms vacation package, your hotel and cruise accommodations (including porterage) have been arranged, plus most of your meals, private airport transfers to/from your intra-vacation flights and sightseeing. Meet your Monograms Local Host® when you arrive in the capital city of Quito. This local expert will act as your friend in the city; no need to wait in line at the concierge desk or ask a waitress for directions to the shopping district. Your Local Host will share insights and suggestions for getting off the beaten path and give you a Destination Guide to acquaint you with the city. The next morning you’ll have a private sightseeing tour of Quito and visit the must-see sights, such as Independence Square and the San Francisco Plaza Church. You’ll also have time to explore the city on your own. Perhaps you will choose to visit the Middle of the World, where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere and cross the equator! The next day you’ll fly to Baltra to embark your 3-night cruise to the Galápagos Islands. (On-tour flights are not included and must be purchased through Monograms to participate in this tour.) Designed specifically for cruising the Galápagos Islands, the 300-foot Galápagos Legend holds 90 passengers and offers all the services of a cruise liner while remaining small enough for an intimate nature experience. Its fully carpeted luxurious cabins have ocean views, closets, private bathrooms, hair dryers, safe deposit boxes and other amenities. Aboard the ship all of your meals are included, and you’ll be accompanied by a Naturalist who will point out the flora and fauna and answer questions you may have. On San Cristobal Island, visit a national park to see giant tortoises in their natural habitat. With its abundant sea life and clear waters, Bartolomé Island offers you some of the best snorkeling in the archipelago. Additionally, you’ll hike to its summit to witness spectacular views of the surrounding islands. Observe blue-footed boobies, magnificent and great frigatebirds, sea lions, land iguanas and swallow-tailed gulls on North Seymour Island. Your vacation ends in Guayaquil, Eucador, where you’ll have private transportation to your hotel and time to explore the city on your own.

  • 3-night cruise aboard the Galapágos Legend, Standard Plus cabin
  • 12 meals (breakfast daily, three lunches, three dinners)
  • Local Host in Quito
  • Destination Guide

Day 1 — Quito, Ecuador
Arrive in Quito, the capital city of Ecuador, where you will be met by your Local Host at your hotel. Hosts are available to answer questions, offer suggestions and help ensure your vacation runs smoothly.

Day 2 — Quito
Your private city sightseeing tour showcases the rich legacy left by the Incas and, later, the Spaniards. See Independence Square, dominated by its formidable Cathedral, San Francisco Plaza Church and the Basilica with its marvelous stained-glass windows.

Day 3 — Quito – Baltra (cruise embarkation) – Bartolomé Island
Fly to Baltra and transfer with your expert Naturalist to the Galápagos Legend for your 3-night cruise. (On-tour flights are not included and must be purchased through Monograms to participate in this tour.) Sail to Bartolomé Island to discover a fascinating moonscape formed by volcanic parasitic cones. Hike to the summit for impressive views of the surrounding islands, including Pinnacle Rock. You will also encounter marine iguanas, lava lizards and blue-footed boobies. Bartolomé offers some of the best snorkeling, thanks to clear waters and abundant sea life, including sea turtles, white-tipped reef sharks and maybe even Galápagos penguins.

Day 4 — South Plaza Island – North Seymour Island
Wake up at South Plaza Island and take a walk through an impressive cactus forest populated with land and marine iguanas. Due to the proximity of land iguanas and marine iguanas here, this is the only place on earth where you will find the Galapagos hybrid iguana. From the summit, be on the lookout for tropicbirds, Nazca and blue-footed boobies and swallow-tailed gulls. After lunch onboard the ship, visit North Seymour, a landmass formed by a series of underwater volcanic eruptions which deposited layers of lava on the ocean floor. Take a walk amidst large nesting colonies of blue-footed boobies, magnificent and great frigate birds, and swallow-tailed gulls for an in-depth encounter with sea bird breeding cycles and sea lions. You will also encounter land iguanas and, on a lucky day, you might even come across the endemic Galápagos snake.

Day 5 — San Cristobal Island
Arrive at Pitt Islet on San Cristobal, where you will walk to the top of a volcanic tuff with several magnificent viewpoints. This is one of the few sites where the three booby species of the Galápagos can be seen together (blue-footed, red-footed and Nazca). You will also find the two species of frigate birds and a sea lion colony. It is an excellent place for dinghy rides and snorkeling. At Cerro Brujo visit a lagoon where migratory bird species can be seen, including black-necked stilts, ruddy turnstones, whimbrels, other sandpiper species and white-cheeked pintails. Cerro Brujo offers beautiful views of Kicker Rock, the southern part of San Cristobal and the adjacent coast. Your visit ends with time to swim with the sea lions and other marine life.

Day 6 — San Cristobal (cruise disembarkation) – Guayaquil, Ecuador
After breakfast disembark in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and visit the Giant Tortoise Reserve on San Cristobal. Learn about the national park’s conservation and breeding programs to protect the endangered tortoise species. Also visit the port village for a last chance to buy souvenirs before bidding farewell to the enchanted Galápagos Islands. Transfer to San Cristobal Airport and fly to Guayaquil, where the remainder of the day is at leisure. (On-tour flights are not included and must be purchased through Monograms to participate in this tour.) Or book an optional Guayaquil City tour.

Day 7 — Guayaquil
Your vacation ends after breakfast this morning. Or extend your vacation with extra nights in Guayaquil.
