This program requires walking on cobblestone streets and uneven pathways, climbing stairs and participating in a full-time schedule of people-to-people activities; it may not be suitable for those in wheelchairs or who have difficulty walking.

The adventure starts with a one-night hotel stay in Miami, where you will meet your fellow adventurers at a Welcome Cocktail Reception. Experience Miami’s nightlife on your own, or rest up for your included flight to Cuba the following day. Arrive in Camagüey, Cuba’s third-largest city, and speak with dancers at the world-renowned Camagüey Ballet Company. Visit a working ranch and share a barbecue lunch with real Cuban cowboys and attend an exciting Flamenco Show. Stroll the cobblestone streets of Trinidad, the crown jewel of Cuba’s colonial cities founded in 1514, and sample the favorite local cocktail, a Canchanchara. Engage with cigar rollers and hear about the importance of tobacco to Cuba in Cienfuegos and enjoy an orchestra performance. Learn how American history converged with Cuba’s in 1961 during a guided visit at the Bay of Pigs Museum. Take a walking tour of Old Havana, visit the beloved home of American author Ernest Hemingway and talk baseball with former Cuban baseball players in Cuba’s capital city. Your adventure starts when you arrive in Miami. You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel, where you will meet with your Bluegreen host and fellow owners at a Welcome Cocktail Reception. Overnight in Miami.

Sunday, February 9, 2020 — Miami, Florida – Camagüey, Cuba
Cuban street musiciansAfter breakfast this morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cuba. Upon arrival in Camagüey, Cuba’s third-largest city, you will be transferred to your hotel. The historic Gran Hotel, located on the city’s pedestrian street, was built in 1939 and features high ceilings, chandeliers and antique furniture. The hotel has a pool, gift shop, bar and restaurant on-site. Tonight meet your Globus Tour Director and Cuban National Tour Director at a Welcome Dinner. This is a good opportunity to ask questions about Cuba and the adventure ahead. Breakfast and dinner are included today; overnight in Camagüey.

Camaguey potteryMonday, February 10, 2020 — Camagüey, Cuba
This morning see Camagüey’s beautifully restored plazas and learn why Camagüey is nicknamed the “City of Squares.” One of the first seven villages founded by the Spaniards, much of the city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next visit the world-renowned Camagüey Ballet Company, which has performed in more than 40 countries. You’ll have a chance to interact with the company’s dancers, teachers and costume-makers. Journey to King Ranch, an expansion of the famous Texas ranch of the same name, and its neighboring village. Step inside a home to discuss rural life. Connect with the cowboys who call the ranch home while sharing a barbecue lunch. Stop at the Casonova Pottery Studio to learn about Camagüey’s famous tinajones, the large red pots found outside homes, a symbol of the city. See the traditional way of making the vessels and interact with the artists to learn the local legend. This evening take in a Flamenco Show highlighting the Spanish influence in this part of Cuba. Admission includes one cocktail per person. Breakfast and lunch are included today; overnight in Camagüey.

Tuesday, February 11, 2020 — Camagüey, Cuba – Trinidad, Cuba – Cienfuegos, Cuba
Church in Trinidad, CubaTravel to Trinidad, the crown jewel of Cuba’s colonial cities. It was founded in 1514 and is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival enjoy lunch at a casa particular (bed & breakfast) and discuss private enterprise in Cuba with the owners and staff. During lunch we’ve arranged a demonstration on how to make the Canchanchara cocktail, a specialty in Trinidad. It combines rum, water, ice, lime and lots of honey, and is often served in a short, round earthenware cup with a short straw. You’ll be able to enjoy one with your lunch; they say it’s as refreshing as a Caribbean breeze. This afternoon stroll the streets of Trinidad, a cobblestone showcase of colonial architecture and pastel-colored houses decorated with wooden shutters and wrought-iron grilles. Caged songbirds outside the home are a Trinidad tradition. Spend time at Templo Yemaya to discuss Santeria, a religion first brought to Cuba by African slaves who worked at the sugar plantations. It has connections to Roman Catholicism and Native Indian traditions. Continue to Cienfuegos to your accommodations for the next two nights, the recently renovated Jagua Hotel, built in the modernist style of the 1950s. The Jagua has a pool and a spacious pool deck with views of Bahia de Cienfuegos bay, and an on-site restaurant, bar, gift shop and fitness room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included today; overnight in Cienfuegos.

Wednesday, February 12, 2020 — Cienfuegos, Cuba
Cuba tobacco farmStart the day by engaging with tobacco rollers at a cigar factory and learn about the importance of tobacco, both culturally and commercially, for Cuba. Then get acquainted with Cienfuegos on a walking tour around the main square. Settled by immigrants from France and Louisiana more than 150 years ago, Cienfuegos is often referred to as the “Pearl of the South” because of its impressive beauty and colorful history. Join in a discussion with artists at a graphic arts studio and learn more about their lives, work and how their art is created. Before returning to your hotel, enjoy a performance of the Cienfuegos Orchestra, followed by a discussion with the musicians. Dinner tonight is served at a local paladar, a restaurant run by a self-employed owner. Breakfast and dinner are included today; overnight in Cienfuegos.

Thursday, February 13, 2020 — Cienfuegos, Cuba – Playa Girón, Cuba – Havana, Cuba
Colorful home in Cienfuegos, CubaAfter breakfast travel through the countryside, passing sugarcane fields and banana plantations. Stop in Playa Girón for a guided visit of the Bay of Pigs Museum. There are displays of various military equipment and photos of the men who fought here in 1961. The road leading to the northeast is lined with small monuments to the soldiers who died defending against the attack. Nearby is the old sugar mill used by Fidel Castro as his center of operations during the invasion. Join in a discussion over lunch with a local naturalist as well as the family that runs the restaurant. Arrive in Havana and interact with a young member of En Busca del Sol (In Search of the sun), a community project founded by a local artist. You’ll stay at the Melia Cohiba Hotel, a modern property located in the El Vedado district near Havana’s historic center. The hotel has an outdoor pool, fitness center, sauna, squash court, spa services, hair salon, gift shop, five restaurants, coffee bar, cigar bar, lobby bar, nightclub and 24-hour room service. This evening you are free to relax at the hotel or explore Havana on your own. Your Cuban Tour Director will have suggestions for dining and additional sightseeing. Friday, February 14, 2020 — Havana, Cuba
Finca Vigia in Havana, CubaEnjoy Valentine’s Day in Cuba’s colorful capital city. Your day begins with a walk through the streets of Old Havana, A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discuss with your Cuban Tour Director Havana’s unique architecture, the challenges of renovating the city’s exquisite historic buildings and the future of these restorations. Next turn your attention to Nobel Prize-winning novelist Ernest Hemingway, who lived in Cuba for more than 30 years and left behind an enduring legacy. It is here that he wrote several books, participated in fishing contests and enjoyed the laid-back ambiance and warmth of the Cuban people. Engage with staff at Finca Vigia, his beloved home, and see his fishing boat, El Pilar. Visit a community project to interact with the children and volunteers who run the program. This evening, a Valentine’s Day treat: See a show at the famous Tropicana Nightclub, first opened in 1939. Our group will have preferred seating, and each guest will get a welcome drink. Every table will also get a bottle of rum, cola and ice so you can mix your own drinks during the show. Breakfast and lunch are included today; overnight in Havana.

Saturday, February 15, 2020 — Havana, Cuba
Colorful buildings and cars in Havana, CubaExplore the world-famous Colon Cemetery with its elaborately sculpted memorials. Hear the cemetery’s captivating history, folklore and stories about the many noteworthy people laid to rest here, including musicians, filmmakers, writers, politicians, Major League Baseball players and La Milagrosa, the “Miraculous One.” Afterward tour the illustrious Hotel Nacional de Cuba, a symbol of history, culture and Cuban identity. The hotel has hosted celebrities and world figures over the decades, including Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali and Steven Spielberg. Meet former Cuban baseball players over lunch and discuss the history and love of our mutual national pastime. Next visit José Fuster’s Studio, cleverly nicknamed the “Picasso of the Caribbean.” It’s a surreal world like nothing you’ve seen before. Interact with members of the neighborhood to discuss the project’s impact on the surrounding area. Take a ride in an Old Styler, one of Cuba’s iconic 1950s American automobiles that they somehow keep running, and head to a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers, the perfect ending to your time in Cuba. Sunday, February 16, 2020 — Havana, Cuba
After one last breakfast in Cuba, you’ll be transferred to the airport in Havana for your included flight to Miami.
