Here’s What a Day of Canadian Fishing at Eagle Nest Lodge Is Like
Once you arrive at the Winnipeg airport, you’ll be transferred to a float plane for the short flight to remote Eagle Nest Lodge, an award-winning facility that’s been owned and operated by the same family for more than 50 years. You’ll stay in modern cabins with all the comforts of home, including WiFi, and have access to the clubroom 24 hours a day. The clubroom has satellite TV, a fully equipped gym and a cedar hot tub. The lodge itself accommodates just 40 guests in five cabins, so you’ll be assured of personal and attentive service.
After a hearty Canadian breakfast, you’ll head out on the river in safe, 18-foot aluminum boats, operated by expert fishing guides. You’ll stop at scenic spots along the shore at lunch time and watch your guide prepare your freshly caught fish on an open fire.
Fish to your heart’s content throughout the afternoon, returning to the lodge around 5 p.m. to relax or share “fish tales” with your fellow guests. The evening meal is a three-course gourmet dinner prepared by the lodge’s chef featuring guest favorites such as prime rib, Cornish game hen, steak and lobster. Enjoy the Eagle Nest’s selection of fine wines if you choose, and there’s always unlimited beer and non-alcoholic beverages available.
Guests who want to spend more time on the water in the evenings can do so on their own, taking smaller boats out on the bays near the resort. There’s help on the dock to get you into a boat and point you in the right direction.
When it’s time to return home, you’ll take the float plane back to Winnipeg and be transferred to the airport. Your package also includes a complimentary flash drive full of photo memories of your Canadian fishing adventure.
